It is a bed for stabilizing the body temperature of the newborn or the premature baby. It has a heat source positioned above the baby to keep his or her temperature constant. Ibis Medical is one of the major manufacturers of the neonatal products which have a worldwide distribution network.

We need to have more discussion about this, especially how you talked about how so many survivors may not come right out and tell you their history, and some may not even remember. I shared my story about how this impacted my births and about how that started me on my road to healing in my book The Birth of Magdalena. I like in your article how it points out that with the right support birth can be so empowering. I also offer Continuing Education workshops for care providers including doulas, midwives and massage therapists. We all need to practice some of these universal tools like compassionate listening because everyone that you interact with has a story, and you never know what they are going through or have gone through.

Comment on Providing Care for Survivors of Sexual Abuse During Childbirth by Greta https://awhonnconnections.org/2017/08/24/providing-care-for-survivors-of-sexual-abuse-during-childbirth/comment-page-1/#comment-2412 Sat, 09 Sep 2017 14:39:30 +0000 https://awhonnconnections.org/?p=2221#comment-2412 Thank you for raising awareness about this issue. It would be helpful if you would ally with women who are sexual abuse survivors by 1) Providing some information, however limited it might be, on finding respectful care providers who will act as you recommend or otherwise in an appropriate/respectful manner. 2) How women can appropriately ask for the things you say- particularly permission asking- from medical or nursing professionals in a way that’s more likely to get results from those professionals rather than provoking anger or defensiveness. Thanks again for your good work.

Comment on 5 Ways to Be More Baby-Friendly (Without Becoming a ‘Baby-Friendly Hospital’) by Linda Bennett https://awhonnconnections.org/2017/08/02/5-ways-to-be-more-baby-friendly-without-becoming-a-baby-friendly-hospital/comment-page-1/#comment-2411 Sat, 09 Sep 2017 14:04:21 +0000 https://awhonnconnections.org/?p=2211#comment-2411 At the teaching hospital where, as a doula, I supported a first time mother in labor, the emphasis from the postpartum nurses was on breast-milk feeding, not breastfeeding. Pumping was emphasized rather than nursing. Baby never really latched well after they left the hospital and breast-milk feeding waned over the next few months with greater and greater supplementation, and then substitution of formula. I would like this addressed. What are alternative ways that pumped breast milk can be administered avoiding nipple confusion, for instance? Are there studies comparing the “no bottle nipples/no pacifiers” approach?
