Heroin use and abuse of prescription narcotics can have some serious lasting effects that shouldn’t be discounted. I work as a Labor and Delivery nurse and also cross over to our Special Care Nursery. These babies spend a long time in the hospital and are often still displaying neurological symptoms on discharge that may never resolve. I agree that alcohol should never be consumed during pregnancy, but the way the statement reads at the end of the article it almost sounds like a person should choose heroin addiction over alcohol. Definitely not a good plan…those babies are often born prefer with a host of their own issues.

Drinking while pregnant can cause serious effects to the developing fetus. Many do not realize that even light drinking also may harm their developing baby. Drinking alcohol during pregnancy can cause a wide range of physical and mental effects on baby. We need better education and awareness about this. We need rehab centres like Canada Drug rehab which is an alcohol rehabilitation centre in Vancouver and also many tougher systems to stop this.
